About the Role
We are seeking a Restorative Justice Coordinator to administer and monitor the Restorative Justice Healing Initiative (RJHI). This role involves coordinating, facilitating, and mediating restorative justice conferencing while mentoring youth participants to help them achieve defined goals in their individualized restorative justice paths.
Key Responsibilities
- →Administer the Restorative Justice Healing Initiative (RJHI)
- →Coordinate, facilitate, and mediate restorative justice conferencing
- →Hold youth accountable to reach goals set in their Restorative Justice healing path
- →Mentor youth involved in RJHI on a weekly basis
- →Provide services including youth interactions and youth-on-youth conflict resolution
- →Interface with existing victim services to facilitate dialogue, amends, and healing
- →Provide unbiased advocacy for both youth and their victims
- →Conduct interactions in a positive, safe, and sensitive manner
- →Communicate professionally with youth, staff, victims, and third parties
- →Collect and submit data, track attendance, and write quarterly/annual reports
- →Maintain a therapeutic environment and serve as an appropriate role model
- →Develop a consistent, confidential, collaborative, and individualized treatment alliance with youth
Requirements
- ✓Completion of a Restorative Justice Training or Certification program
- ✓Two years of experience conducting restorative justice conferencing (e.g., Victim Offender Dialogue, Mediation, Conferencing, Family Conferencing, Restorative Justice Circles)
- ✓OR a degree from an accredited college/university plus one year of experience in restorative justice conferencing
- ✓Must pass a background check administered by CDCR
- ✓Lived experience (formerly incarcerated or justice-involved) with demonstrated ability to live productively since discharge is strongly encouraged
- ✓Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure
- ✓Ability to provide genuine warmth, empathy, and honest sensitivity to facilitate positive change
- ✓Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and typing skills
- ✓Preferred: Experience providing services for youth victims of violence
